We’re proud of the extension
We’re proud of the hospital and the new 5,500 m² extension that holds three wards - two secure and one open - with 30 beds for adult psychiatric patients and one psychiatric ward for children and young people with five beds. We also accept outpatients and offer several polyclinic services. The concept behind the building was that it should feel nice and comfortable without being too cosy. The artistic decoration is quite specific with mainly photographs on the walls.
The central processing system controls heating and ventilation
The building contains a great deal of technology and electrical equipment. With a central control system, which covers all offices and rooms, we control heating, ventilation and blinds. Staff and patients can also control the temperature and their own blinds themselves. The only source of heat is the waterborne underfloor heating system. You get a constant temperature and it’s financially and environmentally viable because you can maintain a lower temperature.
Lighting control and LED lighting
In common rooms the lighting is controlled by the central control system. In other rooms the lighting is controlled by a motion detector and technology that is integrated into the electric fittings. There is a great deal of LED lighting both outside and inside and also some fibre optic lighting, including in the outdoor swimming pool where we can change the colour of the light.
Lots of security technology
There are people here 24 hours a day and we have extensive security technology in the building. All employees have their own pager and panic alarm and there are position transmitters everywhere which show up on a central PC monitor wherever you are. Access controls are an important part of the building; it must be possible to shut off and secure everything and there are more than 120 card readers.

They always give good and reliable quotes without anything being added on afterwards. Moreover it’s a company we’ve been in contact with before because we have a framework agreement with them. They always deliver a fantastic product and their electricians perform their job well and are proud of their work so we were very satisfied to have them on our side.
Inventing new solutions
It’s also good to have contractors who come up with new solutions when needed, something which requires foresight instead of just implementing what the drawings show even when they know that it’s not the best solution. I also think it’s good that Moelven Elektro came up with forward-looking alternatives and proposals such as for the lighting. They’re very good at doing that.
Using the same company is an advantage
We have a framework agreement with Moelven Elektro regarding the service, maintenance and repair work for most of the hospitals run by the Innlandet Hospital Trust. As someone who was in charge in this building project, I think it’s a huge advantage to have the same company who carried out the installations taking care of the service as well. They’ve been with us on site for many years and the electricians and workmen know the area and the buildings.
